Bikram Yoga

What is it?

A type of hatha yoga that is characterized by a series of postures and breathing exercises. It is performed in a room heated to very high temperatures (Hunter, 2016).

Purpose

To allow the body to stretch, detoxify, relieve stress, tome, and heal chronic pain. Some chronic pain is arthritis, joint arches, knee injuries, and back problems (Hewett, 2015). 

Physiological Benefits

Better blood circulation throughout the body. Some poses help establish solid balance and increase flexibility. Concentration to hold the poses. Can help with blood pressure, back pain, diabetes, and more. (Hunter, 2016)
